Padjajaran University is one of the leading State-Owned University Indonesians. Since 2005 Dr. Tjitra has been invited regularly to give lectures and workshop for the graduate students and young faculty members of the school of business at Padjajaran University.



1) Two-days intensive workshop "Leader as Coach"

Coaching has proven to be one of the most powerful one-on-one management techniques for getting the best out of every employee. However in his intensive study, Daniel Goleman (2000) noticed that coaching style in leadership was the least used one.

Leader as coach needs particular skills to coach their team members to better performance. They need to be able to know the team members better in a short time, understanding their potentials and align these potentials with the organizational goals, engaging them in greater responsibilities, and fostering their development.

This two days intensive workshop will start by getting better understanding of the role of manager and leader in the organization. A concept of effective leader as coach will then be introduced, and a series of coaching skills, incl. goal setting, feedback, face2face communication and develop coaching plan will be practiced. Finally at the end of the workshop, each participant will have to develop his or her own personal development plan to be a better coaching leader.

4) Organizational Culture and Leadership in Transformational Change

In today’s business world, change is business survival. One element of change that often overseen is the issues of culture. Organizational culture has been extensively studied over recent decades. “… culture isn’t just one aspect of the game – it is the game” said Gerstner (2002) the former CEO of IBM who lead the company in its historic turnaround in the late 90s. This workshop will show that organizational culture is key element of change and it has a strong influences on the organizational effectiveness, incl. its financial performance. It will also illustrate the role of powerful leadership in building a strong culture. An organizational culture model developed by Professor Denison (1990) of IMD business school, Switzerland will be introduced to have a better understanding how corporate culture works in effective organizations. Finally the national culture issues in implementing the model that developed in western culture context in Asia will be discussed.
