- oral and written communication
- horizontal and vertical logic in presentation
- what is good power point layout
- presentation skills in english
- giving feedback to each other
- APA rules

Methods:
- Short Lecture
- Homework (two emails and one powerpoint)
- Simulation (presentation, debate and poster)
- Class Discussion

Lecture Plan:
1. Sep 10 - Introduction
2. Sep 17 - Presentation of two master thesis
3. Oct 08 - Debate on the role of culture in psychology (six oral presentations)
4. Oct 15 - Poster presentation (eight poster presentation)
5. Closing

Examination scoring:
1) Written communication (writing two fictive emails and one powerpoint)
2) Oral communication (active participation and presentation skills)


First Homework: Fast Reading and Writing Emails
  1. Fast reading the chapter 4 (p. 93 - 164) from the book "The Craft of Scientific Presentations"
  2. Measure the time you need to read the chapter
  3. Write down the three most important learning points you take from the chapter which you would like to focus on
  4. Write an email to your professor reporting your reading speed and learning points
  5. Write an email to a foreign professor, asking him if you can get his articles
  6. Both email should be sent to Christine the latest on Su, Sep 16 before 09.00

For the powerpoint presentation
  • In general you should use the same template provided, but you can change the logo, information etc
  • The quality of the powerpoint itself will be the main part of the examination score (70%), email (10%), active participation (10%), presentation skills (10%)
  • The final powerpoint presentation for the examination scoring should be sent to me the latest on Oct 31 2007
  • Important criteria are: clear, well structured, easy to read and understand, somehow beautiful
