Journey to the West – 10 days in Germany

On May 2nd, Prof. Tjitra, Prof. Ma, Prof. Jin and 10 students departured from Hangzhou, arrived early in the morning in Frankfurt, Germany – where two of the German students from our partner university already waiting for us. The train trip from Frankfurt to Bonn, was really enjoyable – although after 15 hrs flight we were very tired, but the beautiful landscape on the famous Rhein river was just amazing.
During the 10 days in Germany, we visited a number international companies, incl. Giesecke & Devrient, BMW etc. as well a a number cultural program, e.g. City-tour in Munich, German bier-garten on the Starnberg lake, and the famous castle new schwanschtein. Also we got the chance to discuss about intercultural issues with guest speakers from some leading consulting companies such as Kienbaum, Deloitte etc.
Meanwhile we had our own team-project work with our German friends. The intercultural and team learning experiences in this team-project was really matchless. We were divided into four groups, working together in four different topics: ‘intercultural assessment tools’, ‘best practices in international recruitment’, ‘cross-cultural study on impression management’ and ‘Video-based intercultural learning’.
If you are curious about our results – sure you are -, we can show you later. During this intensive twenty days project, we learn a lot about German culture and working style through face to face communication, cooperation and experiencing which impress us a lot. Some of our group members already shared their most impressive things on the web, if you are interested, welcome to visit our forum.
